What is the OptiLife™ Fetal Doppler designed for?
The OptiLife™ Fetal Doppler is designed to create meaningful listening and bonding moments during pregnancy from the comfort of home.
It is not intended to diagnose, monitor or confirm the health of your baby, and it should never replace professional prenatal care.
How does a fetal Doppler work?
A fetal Doppler uses ultrasound technology to detect movement associated with the fetal heartbeat and converts the reflected sound waves into an audible sound.
Ultrasound gel helps create better contact between the probe and the skin, making the listening process smoother and clearer.
Why might I not find the heartbeat right away?
Finding the heartbeat can take time, especially earlier in pregnancy. The baby’s position, placenta placement, pregnancy stage and probe position can all affect what you hear.
Not finding a heartbeat with a home Doppler does not automatically mean something is wrong. Stop using the device and contact your healthcare professional whenever you feel concerned.
Do I need ultrasound gel?
Yes. Ultrasound gel reduces the air between the probe and your skin, helping sound waves travel more effectively.
Your OptiLife™ bundle includes a 30ml tube of ultrasound gel so you can get started without purchasing it separately.
Can it replace prenatal appointments? (No)
No. The OptiLife™ Fetal Doppler is intended only for listening and bonding experiences. It cannot determine whether your baby is healthy and must not replace prenatal appointments, medical examinations or professional advice.
Never use a Doppler reading to delay seeking care. Contact your doctor, midwife or maternity unit promptly if your baby’s movements change, feel weaker or stop, or whenever you have a health concern.

How should I clean the probe?
After each use, gently wipe away the remaining gel with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry the probe before storing it.
Do not immerse the main device in water and avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage its surface.
